After a windy and locally very rainy night, the weather situation seems to be calming down really slowly today. It is from Wednesday that we will see the change, and not only for the color of the sky, also for the cold snap that is coming.

This morning, the weather remains very turbulent on a route linking Saint-Valéry-sur-Somme to Valenciennes with heavy rain, sometimes stormy. This axis will then descend slowly towards the south of the region, while in the north, the weather is calmer. You will notice the wind still sensitive. Installed this morning in the west-southwest, its gusts still reach 70 km/h on the Channel coast, 60 in the interior.
This afternoon, Météo France tells us that the bad weather will only affect the southern half of Hauts-de-France, watch out for the rain which can sometimes be intense. Further north, a trailing sky sets in while waiting for showers which will come down from the North Sea in the evening. The wind will shift to the northwest after the disturbance passes and will still be noticeable with gusts close to 60 km/h.
This is a phenomenon that sometimes happens when the air mass changes during the day. If we are used to seeing the maximums in the afternoon, once is not customary, it is this morning that we will have the highest temperatures of the day. We indeed find the same values as yesterday afternoon, 11 to 13°C.
Behind the disturbance, under the trailing sky, the air mass will be much cooler with only 5 to 7°C over the northern half of the region, the southern half will wait for the rains to clear to display 6 at 9°C.
Cold snap, frosts and first snowflakes ?
Wednesday : Return of clear and clear skies. However, the air will be much fresher! Sheltered from the wind, in the Oise and Aisne, frosts are possible. It will still be necessary to monitor the risk of showers on the coast in Dunkirk, as well as in Aisne on the edge of Champagne, because these showers could take on a wintry character, rain and snow mixed. In terms of temperatures, the minimums will be around 1 degree, the maximums will be 5 to 7 degrees.
THURSDAY : Despite the fact that a disturbance is going to circulate in France we should stay on the sidelines of it. However, some snow precipitation will spill over to the south of the region between Beauvais and Laon. The wind oriented to the west will blow moderately and frosts will be more frequent with -1°C to 2°C to start the day, the maximums will range from 2 to 6°C.
Friday : A day almost identical to the day before, a few snow showers will still be possible in the south of the region. We will still be below seasonal norms for temperatures (3 to 4 degrees below) with -1°C and 0°C in the morning, 5 to 7°C in the afternoon.
Air quality should remain average across the region with conditions favorable to the good dispersion of pollutants maintained. The accumulation of particles will therefore be limited and ozone will remain the only pollutant responsible for the index. On the ATMO Hauts-de-France website you can find all the information relating to air quality.
