This project aims to strengthen travel safety while enhancing the heritage framework of this sector. This work is part of a global approach to modernizing and securing public spaces. The main developments planned for Rue Nouvelle are the one-way passage (from Rue de Rouen to Rue Choudieu); the creation of sidewalks that comply with accessibility standards; And the establishment of a 30 km/h zone with marked contraflow cycles. On rue de l'Île d'Or, the work will consist of maintaining the current direction of traffic, with adoption of the same principles (zone 30 and contraflow of bicycles). For better heritage enhancement, the sidewalks will be made of light concrete and trees will be planted. Parking capacity increased with 21 new spaces on the two streets.
Work progress
The first phase of work concerns the recovery of the rainwater network. It will take place from approximately November 18 to 28, at the intersection of the two streets. No impact is expected on access for local residents or parking. Phase 2 will be devoted to the redevelopment of Rue de l'Île d'Or and will take place from the end of November to the end of January 2025 (subject to weather conditions). During this work, parking will be prohibited and the street closed to traffic. Local access will be maintained depending on the progress of the work. Waste collection will be moved to Rue Nouvelle and Rue David d'Angers. Phase 3, concerning the redevelopment of Rue Nouvelle, will take place in January 2025 for a period of 3 months. The construction site will be organized in phases to limit disruption. Waste collection will be done at both ends of the section concerned. Additional work to make Rue de Rouen safer for cyclists should be noted with a change in the direction of traffic on Rue Gauthiot Lamy (new direction: Rue de Rouen towards Rue Grange Couronne); The passage of Rue Gauthiot Lamy in a 30 km/h zone with contraflow cycling; Resumption of painting of parking spaces (+4 spaces) during the winter.
