The famous American music producer and trumpeter Quincy Jones was posthumously awarded an honorary Oscar during a moving Hollywood gala which took place on Sunday in front of an audience of stars.
The titan of the American music industry, known for producing hit records for a veritable pantheon of music industry legends ranging from Frank Sinatra to Michael Jackson, has died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 91 years old, just two weeks before receiving one of the Academy’s prestigious Lifetime Achievement Awards at the Governors Awards.

Jones has produced landmark Hollywood films including The color purpleand received several Academy Award nominations for songs and film soundtracks like The sang-froid et The Wiz.
Selena Gomez, Jennifer Lopez and Zoe Saldana were among the stars holding back tears in the audience, while Jennifer Hudson performed a musical tribute.
Hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Governors Awards annually honor veterans of the film industry, many of whom are considered to have not received enough recognition at the traditional Academy Awards.
