On November 12, 2024, a 49-year-old man tragically lost his life on rue Papu, in Rennes, during a knife attack. As part of the investigation entrusted to the DCOS (Organized and Specialized Crime Division) of Rennes, the prosecution requested an autopsy. “The death was due to a blow to the victim's back with a bladed weapon,” said the medical examiner.
Investigators made rapid progress in their investigations, allowing a suspect to be identified and arrested. “This 28-year-old man was arrested on Saturday November 16 at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport, as he was preparing to board for Mayotte,” indicated Frédéric Teillet, Rennes public prosecutor. “Placed in police custody and taken to the premises of the DCOS in Rennes, he wished to remain silent. »
This Monday, the suspect, presented at the Rennes courthouse, was indicted for murder by the investigating judge, in accordance with the decision of the prosecution. He was then placed in pre-trial detention by the liberty and detention judge. “His criminal record includes four mentions, including two for offenses against drug legislation,” specifies Frédéric Teillet. Before the investigating judge, the man admitted to having had a dispute with the victim in connection with drug trafficking. He also admitted to the stabbing, although he said he did not intend to kill.
