The fire broke out around 7pm for reasons that are still unknown in the Gaston Trollé hardware and tool company located in the Landacres business park. A huge plume of black smoke was visible for miles around. Dozens of firefighters and impressive firefighting equipment were deployed.
For the Commander of rescue operations, Nicolas Leclet, there was a risk of explosion due to the presence of gas cylinders used for welding:
14 emergency engines, around forty firefighters from Boulogne, Desvres, Hucqueliers and even Lumbres with a high-powered van.

Overwhelmed by smoke, the employees of La Charlotte located nearby hastily evacuated their building which will only resume its ice cream manufacturing activity after a major cleaning.
The cause of the fire was unknown last night.
