The Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight left many fans disappointed due to its outcome, with some even suspecting it was staged. Both fighters appeared to enjoy their victory: for Tyson, a “moral victory” after admitting he nearly died in June and received eight blood infusions.
Nothing but respect between the two fighters was displayed outside the ring and even during the usually tense pre-match one-on-one interviews. However, behind the scenes, a bizarre situation prompted Paul to call security…
Mike Tyson has a well-documented interest in birds and has a collection of hundreds of them. As a sign of respect, Paul decided to give Tyson a pigeon, named Richard, before the match. However, Tyson said the pigeon looked “low end” and that he intended to use it to feed his pet hawk, and the pigeon was taken away from Tyson.
On the day of the fight, Paul brought Richard the pigeon to the stadium, and was seen carrying him to the locker room. After the fight, Paul reportedly called security at AT&T Stadium to go get the pigeon, fearing that Tyson had stolen it, as recounted GB News.
“Everyone wants to know about my new bird that Mike Tyson turned down. Richard here is doing absolutely wonderful, thriving and having the best time. I can't believe Mike Tyson got you let go,” Paul shared on Instagram.
