This former monastery could one day become the new town hall of Chevilly-Larue

“Our services are currently dispersed in five different buildings which are thermal sieves and which have therefore, since the energy crisis, increased our bills”confided the mayor (PCF) of Chevilly-Larue (Val-de-Marne) Stéphanie Daumin. To remedy the problem, municipal services could be grouped together in an unexpected site, says News Paris this Sunday, November 17, 2024.

A possible referendum

In 2021, the commune purchased two wings of the Saint-Michel monastery, a deconsecrated building built at the beginning of the 20th century whose renovation cost was too high for the sisters who occupied it. Ultimately, all town hall departments could move there. However, the project must still be the subject of discussions and the population could even be consulted by referendum.

In addition to energy savings, Stéphanie Daumin estimated that the transfer would offer municipal employees premises more suited to their activity and that it would make it possible to “bring the town hall back to the village square”. Chevilly-Larue does not strictly speaking benefit from a single town center, which the councilor would like to see change.
