Despite a simple and sober tribute organized a year after Thomas' death, around 150 people met in Crépol this Sunday, November 17. In front of them, report France Bleu Drôme Ardèche and Le Dauphiné Libéré, a stele marked with two intertwined hearts “in memory of Thomas and in support of all those injured at the ball (…)”.
A tribute “out of sight”
After the ordeal of last year, the death of Thomas in tragic circumstances and the media storm that followed, the association of victims of the Crépol ball, at the origin of the financing of the stele, n did not want the ceremony to take place other than in a small group. Those close to Thomas did not want any publicity around the event.
The tribute, like the stele, was intended to be “simple and in the image of Thomas”, confided the teenager's grandmother to the microphone of our colleagues at France Bleu, who specified that several victims of November 19 2023 were present for this inauguration. Victims who are gradually beginning to speak out about what they may have experienced the night during which Thomas lost his life.
“It's important, we are united in this fight (…). We needed a place to gather, many people no longer go to the village hall (…)”, declared to France Bleu Emmanuelle, president of the association of victims of the Crépol ball.
The stele, installed on a patch of grass “out of sight”, was designed as a place where Crépolois and residents of the region can gather in complete privacy.
“The hearts on the stele represent love, connection, strength, union. The stone represents nature, eternity,” explains Emmanuelle.
