A van carrying a horse catches fire on the A28 motorway in Orne, with traffic cut off.

After the heavy goods vehicle accidents of Wednesday November 13 and Thursday November 14, the A28 motorway was once again cut, in Orne, this Sunday November 17, 2024, following the fire of a van in horses.

The horse brought to safety

The vehicle was traveling in the north-south directionor Rouen to Alençon, when at kilometer point 163, at the height of Valframbert, near Alençon, it caught fire.

The cheval who was transported inside the van was taken out and made safe.

No injuries have been reported.

Highway cut

The motorway, on the other hand, “was completely cut in the direction of travel of the disaster”, specify the operators of the Sdis (departmental fire and rescue service) alert processing center of Orne, i.e. from Argentan to Alençon.

Nine firefighters from the Sées, Essay and Mortrée emergency centers were mobilized to the site of the disaster. The gendarmerie and a patrol officer were also dispatched to secure the scene.
