Anthony Bourdon and Cooper Webb create a surprise on the first day of the Supercross

The first evening of the Supercross was marked by surprises, with the unexpected victories of Anthony Bourdon in SX2 and Cooper Webb in SX1.

This year, the Paris Supercross celebrates its fortieth anniversary at Paris La Défense Arena. In a packed house, Saturday evening defied all predictions where the expected favorites, like Tom Vialle, Jo Shimoda and Jett Lawrence, did not reach the podiums.

In SX1, Jett Lawrence quickly set his pace, dominating super pole and winning two rounds out of three. But a fall caused by a latecomer in the second heat put an end to his hopes of a perfect evening. The final victory then came down to Cooper Webb and Malcolm Stewart, in an intense duel which continued until the last round of the final.

Thanks to exemplary consistency (second, first and second), it was the American Cooper Webb (Yamaha) who won against Stewart, who finished second. Dylan Ferrandis, author of regular performances (three times fourth), took third place. Behind them, Hunter Lawrence and Jett Lawrence complete the top 5, the latter now having to catch up. The ranking can be found here.

In SX2, Tom Vialle and Jo Shimoda, big favorites in the category, saw their uneven performances shake up the rankings. Vialle crashed in the first heat, finishing twelfth, while Shimoda made a mistake in the final, finishing eleventh. Despite their respective heat victories, their average results kept them from the final podium.

It was the Frenchman Anthony Bourdon (Kawasaki) who was able to do well thanks to flawless consistency. With a third, a fourth and a second place, he clinched the victory of the evening. Calvin Fonvieille and Maxime Desprey, also consistent, complete the podium, while Vialle and Shimoda still remain in the race for the overall title despite this false start. The ranking can be found here.
