A fire broke out around 4 a.m. in the city center of (), Sunday November 17. A few hours later, nearly a hundred firefighters were still mobilized, reports Bleu Lorraine .

A building in downtown Metz (Moselle) has been engulfed in flames since 4 a.m. this Sunday, November 17. The fire broke out in one of the basements of a building on rue Ambroise-Thomas, just opposite the cathedral, reports France Bleu Lorraine Nord.

To control the blaze and the heavy smoke which spread over three floors, 90 firefighters and 45 vehicles are currently mobilized, according to the officer from the Departmental Fire and Rescue Operations Center (Codis) contacted by France Bleu. At 8:20 a.m., the fire was still underway.

Around twenty residents of the building had to be evacuated. Apart from two minor injuries, no victims were counted. The prefect of Moselle informed his constituents of the situation via social networks.
