From now on, doctors are forced to reveal their patients’ pathologies on prescriptions.
This measure carries a unacceptable violation of medical confidentialitywhich compromises the very foundation of the relationship of trust between patients and caregivers.
We must firmly oppose it!
Medical confidentiality is not an option, it is a fundamental right (2).
It allows everyone to freely confide in their doctor, without fear that intimate information will be disclosed.
By forcing practitioners to outline pathologies on prescriptions, this decree tramples on confidentiality.
How many patients will give up consulting for fear that their private life will be exposed?
This measure is also a blow to doctors, already suffocated under administrative tasks.
Having to justify each prescription with a diagnosis further increases their burden, to the detriment of the time devoted to patients.
Is this how we claim to improve access to care, by dissuading practitioners and patients?
Many professionals are sounding the alarm
– The National Council of the Order of Physicians recalls that confidentiality is “a right of the patient and a duty of the doctor” (3)
– Liberal doctors’ unions denounce “a breach of medical confidentiality” et “a loss of confidence” (4)
– Patient associations rebel against “an invasion of privacy” et “a medicine of suspicion” (5)
However, alternatives exist to optimize prescriptions without violating medical confidentiality, such as continuing training for doctors or exchanges between health professionals (6).
Why persist in a path that conflicts with common sense and the freedom of the French?

We ask for his immediate withdrawal and the opening of a real dialogue with those in the field to build quality medicine, with respect for patients and caregivers.
