The images are impressive. A ship docked at the port of Aigues-Mortes in Gard was completely destroyed by flames this Sunday, November 17, 2024 around 12:45 a.m.
The fire caused no casualties. The 35 firefighters dispatched to the site and the other rescue forces worked to prevent the fire from spreading to a second boat.
This Sunday morning, their intervention continues. The area was secured by divers and a floating boom was placed to contain the pollution by the chemical risks team. The causes of the fire are not yet known.
