The hostage-taking in a restaurant in the Paris suburbs is over, the madman has been arrested.
A man armed with a knife was “entrenched” on Saturday November 16, 2024 in a restaurant in Issy-les-Moulineaux (Hauts-de-Seine), a close suburb of Paris. It had “a few employees”, the Paris fire brigade (BSPP) told AFP. The events took place in the restaurant L’Olivier, located on rue Ernest Renan.
Shortly after 4 p.m., it was confirmed that the maniac, who was armed with a knife, was arrested. The four hostages were released.

It would be the son of the restaurant owner
The restaurateur is not known to the courts. A mediator from the BRI (Research and Intervention Brigade, an elite unit of the Paris police) was “engaged, due to the person concerned’s desire to commit suicide”.
The police headquarters announced that the man was armed with a knife, and that he “locked himself in his father’s restaurant”.
Large security perimeter
A large police force surrounds the restaurant a few dozen meters from the Paris ring road, AFP journalists noted. On AFPTV images, we can see numerous police vehicles and armed, helmeted law enforcement officers blocking the streets and establishing a security perimeter in the neighborhood.
