A four-story apartment building was engulfed in flames overnight from Friday to Saturday, forcing the evacuation of 11 residents in the area of rue Saint-Louis in Old Quebec.
Around 1 a.m., emergency services received the call and in the minutes that followed, around fifty firefighters from the Quebec Fire Protection Service (SPCIQ) went to the intersection of rue Saint- Louis and rue Sainte-Ursule to fight the blaze in this four-unit building.

“When the firefighters arrived, there was gray smoke visible towards the back of the building. The fire was located at the rear of the building in a storage room near a stairwell leading outside to 3e floor,” explained the SPCIQ in a press release.
As the fire threatened to spread through the stairwell and other buildings were attached to the building, additional personnel were called in to assist.
An RTC bus and representatives of the Red Cross welcomed the 11 people who had to be evacuated. A civil security coordinator was also on site to liaise with the victims and the Red Cross.
