A truck catches fire in the parking lot of a factory in Anderlecht: major means deployed to prevent the spread

Major intervention by the firefighters this Friday evening: the fire in a truck in the parking lot of a factory risked spreading to the rest of the site.

This Friday evening, around 7:15 p.m., Brussels firefighters had to put out a truck on fire in the parking lot of the Viangro company, located in Anderlecht. “The flames were already licking the facade of the factory“, relates Walter Derieuw, spokesperson for the Brussels firefighters.

A delicate intervention: the fire risked spreading to the rest of the site. “Given the presence of chemicals on the site (including ammonia, editor’s note), we decided to immediately ramp up“.

Fortunately, the worst was avoided: “Thanks to our rapid and mass intervention, we were able to narrowly avoid the spread“, he declares. Around 8:30 p.m., the outbreak was already under control.

Around a hundred people who worked on the site had to be evacuated. Fortunately, there were no injuries. The staff waited in the refectory before being able to return to their workstations. The device was lifted around 9:30 p.m.

The origin of the fire has yet to be determined.
