A 49-year-old from Roanne was taken into custody on Wednesday at the Roanne police station. He is suspected of having harassed and made death threats against a man he suspects of having a romantic relationship with his ex-partner.
Harassment which would have become daily since the victim explained to the police that the man was harassing him by following him in the car and spying on his every move. He even threatened to kill him several times, which affected him psychologically. The victim had already filed a complaint at the beginning of the year for the same facts, but an expert psychiatrist had explained that the accused was not eligible for criminal sanction.
The victim filed a complaint again a few days ago. And this time, the expertise carried out by a psychiatrist during the time of police custody estimated that the accused was eligible for criminal sanction.
A binding judicial review
At the end of 48 hours in police custody, the accused was brought before the Roanne public prosecutor on Friday afternoon. The magistrate issued him a summons by report for a hearing at the Roanne judicial court.
The forty-year-old was released but placed under judicial supervision with a ban on going to the victim’s home and several of his relatives, and on coming into contact with the victim and several of his relatives. He will also have to report periodically to the police station, not have a weapon and receive treatment.
