Audiences: What results for Julien Arnaud and Flavie Flament two months after their arrival at “Télématin” on 2?

September 16 – November 15, 2024. Two months after the first awakening at dawn of Flavie Flament and Julien Arnaud, the new tandem at the head of “Télématin” from Monday to Thursday, has it allowed the historic leader of morning shows to television to widen the gap on its competitors? Puremédias takes stock of market trends.

No effect Flavie Flament and Julien Arnaud for “Télématin”

Two months ago, the effect of curiosity around the arrival of the two former faces of TF1 at the presentation of the 2 morning show was marginal. 730,000 viewers attended their first broadcast, or 25.9% of the entire public aged four and over. These scores on the two indicators, retained by Puremédiashave since improved to 775,000 viewers on Monday October 7 and 26.5% of the audience on Tuesday September 17. They, on the other hand, also showed signs of fatigue with only 605,000 viewers at the breakfast table on Monday November 11 and 19.2% of the public on Wednesday November 6. The total number of viewers, higher that morning due to the announcement of the election of Donald Trump for the American presidential election in the United States, worked against “Télématin”.

With these data in mind, the France 2 morning show brought together 690.000 viewers every morning from 6:28 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., according to Médiamétrie. This represents 23,4% from the public between Monday September 16 and Friday November 15, 2024 (Friday being provided by the pair led by Maya Lauqué and Damien Thévenot). The leadership of France 2, uncontested in this box, has nevertheless crumbled somewhat since TF1 decided to invest in the box and step on its toes.

A year ago, at the same time (September 18 – November 17, 2023), 745,000 viewers and 26.3% of the public started their day with Thomas Sotto and Marie Portolano. 365 days later, “Télématin” lost 55,000 viewers and above all 2.9 audience share points. And the arrival of Flavie Flament and Julien Arnaud does not break this bad patch since the program has recorded results slightly lower than the 2024 average over the last two months. This stands, for the moment, at 698,000 viewers and 24 .0% of the public for the period January 8 – November 15.

Above 300,000 viewers, “Hello!” gains ground on TF1

On TF1, “Bonjour!”, the latest entrant into the morning market, continues to expand its furrow. Between September 16 and November 15, the program, presented by Bruce Toussaint between 6:54 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., awakened 302.000 viewers, or 9,6% audiences aged four and over. A sign that viewer interest is growing, the scores over the last two months are higher than those achieved since the launch of the show (271,000 viewers and 8.8% of 4+ between January 8 and November 15, 2024 ). Since the start of the school year, “Hello!” mobilized up to 350,000 viewers on Friday October 4 and garnered a maximum audience share of 11.9% on Tuesday August 20.

As for the news channels, also involved in the competition in the morning, BFMTV, with Christophe Delay and Adeline François in “Première édition”, informed 338.000 viewers on average between 6 a.m. and 8:33 a.m. over the last two months, i.e. 13,8% of the entire public. “La matinale” from CNews, played by Romain Desarbres, convinced 253.000 viewers, or 9,8% of the public between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. over the same period.

109.000 viewers preferred to vote for “La matinale” presented by Jean-Baptiste Marteau on Franceinfo, i.e. 4,0% from the public between 6:29 a.m. and 8:33 a.m. “Le 6/9 with Jean-Baptiste Boursier”, meanwhile, united every morning 107.000 viewers between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. on LCI, i.e. 4,1% ages 4 and up. “Apolline matin”, RMC morning show hosted by Apolline de Maherbe and co-broadcast on RMC Story (channel 23) between 6:29 a.m. and 8:29 a.m., does better than its competitors on 26 and 27 with an average of 125.000 viewers on the meter, or 4,7% of the public.
