The Ukrainian army defended itself against a raid by Russian lurking munitions overnight from Thursday to Friday.
Shots ring out in the Odessite night. Several videos, published on social networks, show Ukrainian air defense (DCA) fire against a Russian Geran-2 drone raid on the night of November 15. One of them was filmed by Turkish sailors on layover in Ukraine's largest port. The Géran-2 are a derivative of the Iranian Shahed-136 drone, purchased in large quantities from the start of the invasion on February 24, 2022. The Russian army modified it to make it a formidable prowling munition, i.e. i.e. which explodes on the target.
They have the advantage of a low cost, between 10,000 and 50,000 dollars, and high efficiency because the explosive charges carried can be up to 50 kilograms. The shots from the Ukrainian DCA are also numerous because they target this small and therefore difficult to destroy ammunition. The Russian army has intensified its bombings in Odessa, one of Ukraine's economic heartlands. The port, moreover, was hit that night. Across the country, Kremlin forces are seeking the destruction of infrastructure, especially energy infrastructure, as winter approaches. A method already used over the last two winters to weigh on Ukrainian morale, put to the test by the length of the war and the scale of the losses.
