the Italian Giancarlo Pedote (Prysmian) takes the lead for the first time

As the skippers headed towards Cap Vert, the Italian Giancarlo Pedote (Prysmian) took the lead on the course.

Italian sailor Giancarlo Pedote (Prysmian) took the lead in the 10th edition of the Vendée Globe at the expense of Briton Sam Goodchild (Vulnerable) while the leading skippers are heading towards Cape Verde, according to the score taken Friday at 7:00 p.m.

His choice to position himself to the East of the rest of the fleet has paid off, even if the gaps remain particularly small with the first five skippers in a pocket of 20 nautical miles and in particularly unstable areas.

The ranking was turned upside down with the rise during the day on Friday from 10th to 3rd place of Sébastien Simon (Groupe Dubreuil), ahead of Clarisse Cremer (L'Occitane en Provence) while Jean Le Cam (Tout commence en Finistère – Armor- Lux) is 10th. Sam Goodchild, a 34-year-old rookie who had taken the lead during the night, was less than eight miles behind Pedote at 7:00 p.m., and as much ahead of Simon.

Maxime Sorel (V and B-Monbana-Mayenne), injured in an ankle and who had diverted to Madeira to repair a part of his boat, for his part decided to throw in the towel, becoming the first sailor to abandon in this 10th solo non-stop and unassisted world tour, which started on Sunday in Les Sables d'Olonne.
