As Andscape’s Marc J Spears reports, Handy will head up the upcoming Unrivaled 3-on-3 women’s basketball league, scheduled for next year. Founded by WNBA legends Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, the league aims to retain the nation’s top female talent while allowing them to earn competitive salaries during the WNBA offseason—an attractive alternative to playing at home. abroad, where many stars traditionally earn much more money.

Handy joins the ranks of five other coaches whose names have been revealed for Unrivaled, including Teresa Weatherspoon, Adam Harrington, Nola Henry, Andrew Wade, and DJ Sackmann. Each team will consist of six players, competing under unique names like Lace, Phantom, Vinyl, Lunar Owls, Mist, and Rose. The much-anticipated draft is scheduled for November 20, where coaches will finalize their teams.
