Good news for a company from Dégelis, the Microbrasserie de la Madawaska won the Young Enterprise prize at the recognition gala of the Association of Microbrasseries of Quebec.
The event took place in Quebec on November 12 and the award aims to recognize a microbrewery in operation for less than three years and which stands out for its originality, its corporate culture, its clear vision, its business model , as well as its strong identity.
“This award means a lot to us, being recognized by your peers means a lot to us,” says Éliane Deschênes-Plourde, co-owner of the microbrewery. “We wanted to create an expanded tourist offer with the hotel and the brewery. We symbolically chose the name of the Madawaska River, because it brings together Quebec, New Brunswick and Maine. It’s motivating that our vision is attracting the attention of the industry,” adds Ms. Deschênes-Plourde.
The Microbrasserie de la Madawaska participated in 15 brewing festivals during the summer, Martin Rioux-Beaulieu, co-owner and brewer, traveled the roads of Quebec to promote Témiscouatin flavors, “I allowed myself to play the role of Ambassador of my region, Témiscouata and by extension Bas-Saint-Laurent, I realized that our region was little-known and our beer was a way of promoting it. to make known,” specifies Mr. Rioux-Beaulieu.
The Microbrasserie de la Madawaska has been in operation since October 2022 in Hôtel 1212 in Dégelis. The restaurant has been renovated in the colors of the microbrewery and can accommodate more than 150 people. The Microbrasserie also operates a second restaurant, Pub Madawaska, at Dégelis beach during the summer season, and has been doing so for 3 summers.
The other two finalists for the Young Enterprise award were Microbrasserie Wick Station from Warwick and Nano Cinco – Brasserie Artisanale de Québec.
