the essential
The 17th edition of the event will take place on March 29 and 30, 2025. Once again, some new features are on the program, so that the celebration is even more complete and more beautiful.
Many put it on their calendar from year to year. The Montauban marathon, or rather the two days entirely devoted to running in the city of Ingres, remains one of the biggest recurring events in the city, to the point that the event is part of what is done better now. “Beyond the simple sporting aspect, it is a festive and friendly weekend that we hope for with, as always, all those who trust us, and without whom this organization would not be possible” was keen to underline the municipality's sports deputy Daniel Bory. In the process, it was Laurent Restoul, “Mr. marathon” as everyone likes to call him, who presented the complete program for these two days. And it is clear that it looks busy. Over the two days, 4,000 participants are expected. “We have seen that welcoming a lot of people, far too many, can lead to certain problems. As far as we are concerned, we have set the gauge at 4,000 participants maximum (400 maximum for the marathon; 1,500 for the half-marathon; 240 for the relay, i.e. 24 teams and 1,860 for the 10 km). During the last edition, there were 3,900. Given that the running phenomenon is becoming ever more important, I have no doubt that we will reach this figure this time. Afterwards, it will be time to judge what we can do, or not do, perhaps we will aim for 5,000 in 2025” laughed Laurent Restoul.

A new race, for 13-15 year olds, on Saturday morning
As in previous editions, it is at Cours Foucault that the marathon village will be set up from Saturday, and it is there that the starts will be given and the arrivals will be judged. Among the new features, we will note the creation of a brand new event, the “Teen tour” which will be organized on Saturday morning, and which will be reserved for 13-15 year olds (obstacle course of 2 km maximum). The “T’es pas cap tour”, reserved for 6-12 year olds, obviously retains its historic presence on Saturday afternoon. If a new race appears, the participants will also face a new course on certain sectors, even if the final difference in altitude will be almost the same, conducive to excellent times (all records were broken during the previous edition ). “Due to the work planned in the city at this time of year, we have modified certain loops, in particular we will go around Place des Fontaines, go through Rue de la Résistance, before Rue de la République, like in the days of the historic course” explained the great manitou of the course Marc Landanger. As for the marathon, athletes should also tour the brand new Center of Sports Excellence in Ramiérou. The passage on the new Fobio athletics track is also still on the program.
Let us specify that the sports-health area, launched this year, will take on even more importance in 2025, that one euro per commitment will be donated to the “Olympe endowment fund” created by the Montauban hospital center, and that this year, It is the Young Montalbanese Hopes (JEM) who will be in charge of the village refreshment bar at Cours Foucault. Finally, among other things, it was announced that the childcare center would this time be fully integrated into the village, giving greater latitude to parent-runners.
