While fans have been buzzing since the start of the second season of Arcane, the future looks bright for future films and series inspired by League of Legends. The Netflix series was only the first step in a vast project, and in the future we will discover new productions still inspired by Riot Games' MOBA. Excellent news that should still be tempered: we are going to have to wait a long, very long time before finding out what happens next.
Different projects
To mark the release of the second season of Arcane, its creators, Christian Linke and Alex Yee, gave an interview to GamesRadar+. As they explain, they're eager to explore new facets of League of Legends lore, but they don't want to rush it. They believe that they must offer something different from Arcane, in the treatment, but also in the narration. In short, starting on new bases and exploring new ways of “doing” things well, and therefore, moving away from the animation style of Arcane. A choice which would therefore mean that they would start from scratch. As they point out, this is one of the advantages of animation, it offers much more freedom than live-action productions.
Furthermore, they don't want to do anything close to a superhero MCU like Marvel: “If we're just doing another superhero thing as an intellectual property, then there's no reason to do that.”
[Yee intervient]
Yee: …Have a message to convey. I think it's important to remember that coming from games, we're already engaged in what seemed like a new form of storytelling, after TV and movies. I think that spirit is still within us. So it's about trying to remember that the methods by which stories can be told and the ways in which players can interact with them are always in a state of fluidity.

Link and Yee therefore do not want to rest on their laurels, and offer something new in the future, and therefore different from Arcane. The series created by Fortiche and Riot Games is undoubtedly a huge success (and of undeniable quality), but the creators do not seem to want to rely solely on the latter, and explore new styles of animation, and above all, tell new stories that are not the same. In this sense, we will have to wait a long time before discovering their next project.
Which regions could be highlighted?
Those who have been playing League of Legends for years and are at least interested in the MOBA lore know that the game has extremely rich stories. With more than 160 characters, there are so many stories to explore. Recently Linke had also expressed the wish to explore a more fanciful side of LoL, we can then imagine that Riot Games will work in the future on a series, or even a film, which would focus on the region of Bandle, the homeland of your favorite (or hated, hello Teemo) Yordles.
In truth, the choices are many. The Dark Isles, Shurima, Freljord, or even Ionia, LoL is full of mysterious places and intriguing characters that we would like to discover a little more.
For now, the mystery remains, but one thing is certain, Riot Games has great ambitions for its future creations drawn from the universe of its flagship game. In the meantime, see you this Saturday for the second act of the second season of Arcane.
