“Ranieri is the right person for this project.”

Florent Ghisolfi presented this Friday, November 15, 2024 the first press conference of Claudio Ranieri as Roma’s new coach.

“I think there is no need to introduce Mr. Ranieri. Today is an important day, Roma needs one of its own, with experience, and to return to its roots. The mister knows the team, he knows the club, but above all, he is a great coach with international experience: we felt he was the right person at that time for this project. He will not only be the coach, but will be part of the future management of Roma in this project wanted by the Friedkin family and the Club”.

Some voices say that it was you who pushed to take Claudio Ranieri: was that your choice?

“It was a very important choice and the importance of the case required that it be done collectively, and therefore with the Friedkin family ».

What did you ask Ranieri, what goal did you set for this season?

« The goal of doing everything possible. It comes at a very difficult time, and it’s mainly about moving up the rankingsand to make the right choices that lead us in that direction.”

In the negotiation, what convinced you the most to choose Ranieri: the qualities of the coach, those of the man, the experience, the global symbol that he represents?

« All the factors discussed are a combination of things : he is a person of great humanity. He will serve the entire project, since after the next few months where he will lead the team, he will then move on to the management sector. It’s a vision that is an integral part of the project.”

Have you received any requests regarding the transfer window from the mister?

(Ghisolfi intervenes after Ranieri’s response) “I’m just confirming what the coach said. He just arrived, he spoke to the players, felt, touched things and then we will talk about the rest afterwards.”

Were there any refusals before arriving at the choice of Ranieri?

« Claudio was our priority.”
