A simple blow of a pickaxe to drive in a rod. Here is the origin of a gas leak that occurred around 12 p.m., at the top of avenue de Paris in Soissons this Friday, November 15, 2024. While the employees of the company who are redoing avenue de Paris were just starting to attacking this part of the shoulder, one of them pierced into a gas pipe, positioned at a shallow depth.
Immediately, the Soissons firefighters were notified, as well as the GRDF on-call team. Residents of homes surrounding the leak were asked to leave their homes, at least during the response period. The gas was cut off in this part of the street, notably depriving Saint-Paul College of heating. Students and parents who came to pick up were directed down the avenue.
The closest residents evacuated
GRDF had commissioned an earthmoving company to access the affected pipeline, in order to reach the leak and therefore restore gas circulation. Before that of cars, the national police and the municipal police regulated the movements, which were numerous at this time of the day.
