Donnarumma’s strong match with Italy

This Thursday evening, at the same time as the French team’s match, Italy traveled to Belgium and managed to achieve an important victory (1-0). A success which, combined with the Blues’ failure at home against Israel (0-0), brings the Squadra Azzurra very close to first place in the group, since it will take a very large French victory in Italy on Sunday to reverse the situation.

Solid Donnarumma… in the air

This Italian victory in Belgium was marked by the XXL performance of Gianluigi Donnarumma. The PSG goalkeeper, tossed around in recent times with the capital club, put out a boss’ match, with several decisive interventions and, more rarely, some well-felt aerial exits, which is not his strong point. Enough to allow Italy, after eight consecutive matches conceding at least one goal, to keep its goal clean.

Obviously a great success in the eyes of the Italian press which places defensive rigor above all else. Corriere dello Sport also credited Donnarumma with the nice rating of 6.5. “70th match with the national team. At the end of the first half, we could almost have asked him for his ticket, he was so calm. In the second half, he secured the goal with decisive saves against Debast and Trossard. A few well-controlled outings brought serenity to the team. Thanks to him, Italy finally finished a match without conceding a goal after a series of 8 matches,” underlined the Italian media.
