CULTURE. The Drummondville Symphony Orchestra (OSD) is a finalist at the 28th Opus Awards gala in the “concert of the year – modern, contemporary music” category.
The concert that stood out is entitled The triumph of the viola. It was presented last April with Drummondville resident Wilhelm Magner as guest soloist.
“We have the honor of being among the finalists alongside the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and the Molinari Quartet, two renowned ensembles. This is a first for the OSD in this category and we are very proud of it,” expressed Marie-Michelle Raby, general director of the OSD.
The winners will be revealed during the gala which will take place on February 2.
Created in 1996, the Opus Awards bear witness to the dynamism of the Quebec musical community. They highlight the excellence and diversity of concert music in Quebec in different musical repertoires: medieval, Renaissance, baroque, classical, romantic, modern, current, contemporary, electroacoustic, jazz, world and traditional Quebec music.
By organizing a gala, the Conseil québécois de la musique wishes to pay tribute to local musicians, but also to convey to the public and music lovers the taste for discovering, listening to and attending concert music.
