“I hope that one day, someone will offer me something else”

Laurent Kérusoré plays the role of Thomas in “Plus belle la vie: even plus belle”, available from Monday to Friday on RTL tvi at 4:55 p.m. or on TF1 at 2 p.m.

Meeting with the actor.

Your character has been in turmoil for several weeks with the sale or not of the bar “Le Mistral” and a life as a couple that is failing. How will the rest go for Thomas?

Thomas will fight to the end for “Le Mistral” which is close to his heart. Concerning the couple’s story, things are struggling. Normally, the guy leaves but Thomas is a nice guy. It started to go very badly for both of them, I can’t say more. Thomas will impose himself and will put conditions on his marriage.

Why do we see you less than your colleagues in fiction other than “More beautiful life: even more beautiful”?

I think I am very marked by the character of Thomas. The decision makers think I can only play Thomas. I played in “La Intern”, the press talked about it, I thought it would wake up the decision-makers but a priori not. I accept it but I would like to play another role from time to time. I’m not complaining because I don’t know about unemployment. I have no weariness playing Thomas, I hope that one day I will be offered something else, I hope so with all my heart.

You were one of the first actors to openly play a homosexual in a series. How did you experience this?

I was there to kick the can down the road in society, it was thanks to the authors. He is assumed. Thomas is not in excess. He is the most normal character in her life. This reassured people.

Could this have harmed you?

I’ve been to the emergency room a few times, they’re the idiots. I have suffered a lot of attacks, I have not always filed a complaint because I have other things to do. I have a fairly developed survival instinct. After an attack, I get depressed for two or three days and then I leave again. I would never be an LGBT flag bearer. I’m a little overwhelmed.

Sylvie Flepp, who plays Mirta in the series, said the new version lacked social connection. What is your opinion?

The intrigues were very long on 3, it’s more interesting because it’s shorter on TF1. We just have fewer connections between the characters without a plot coming between them. I join her. The episodes are shorter and it’s not easy. We all asked to have little scenes between us.

Have you been offered “Mask Singer” or “Dancing with the Stars”?

“Mask Singer, never.” I was offered “Dancing with the Stars” but I refused. I understand that this is part of the promotion but I don’t feel the need to promote myself. Those who follow me would be surprised to see me on this show.
