It has been an observation since the start of the season that the French team is of much less interest to football fans. The aftermath of the disappointing Euro, the doubts concerning Didier Deschamps, the Mbappé controversies, the retirement of Griezmann, an unexciting League of Nations… The cocktail is brought together for real disenchantment. Which could have reached its climax last night with the meeting between France and Israel.
Better audience for October matches
Despite the quickly soporific scenario of the match, the context of the meeting very far from football, the modest opponent or even the lack of sporting challenge, the French nevertheless followed the Blues with surprising assiduity. 4.9 million viewers were gathered in front of their screens, representing an audience share of 24.6% for TF1, at the top of the evening's audiences. A good figure which was not necessarily the trend, especially given the very limited attendance at the Stade de France. France – Israel is notably better than the two matches in October against Israel already, but away, and Belgium.
The 2024-2025 audiences for the Blues

To summarize
Between the very complicated context, the modest adversity and the lack of sporting stakes, it is difficult to be passionate about France – Israel. And yet… Indeed, the Blues did significantly better than the first leg, and the October matches.
