“Thank you to the security and the authorities who organized this match in an extraordinary and fantastic way,” greeted Ran Ben Shimon, Israeli coach, after the high-risk France-Israel football match played Thursday evening, a week after the anti-Semitic violence which occurred in Amsterdam on the sidelines of a Maccabi Tel-Aviv match and in the middle of the conflict in the Middle East.
A security device up to the task. Israel coach Ran Ben Shimon thanked the French authorities on Thursday for ensuring the security of his team and organizing the match against the Blues in the Nations League (0-0) in an “extraordinary and fantastic” manner.
“We want to thank the security people for protecting us. Thank you to French security and the authorities who organized this match in an extraordinary and fantastic way,” declared the technician at a press conference after the match, which allowed his players to obtain their first point in this competition.
The France-Israel match at the Stade de France was the subject of exceptional security, a week after the violence that occurred in Amsterdam on the sidelines of a Maccabi Tel-Aviv match and in the middle of the conflict in the Middle East.
A total of 4,000 police officers and gendarmes had been deployed around and, rarely, in the stadium, as well as on public transport and throughout Paris. Around 1,600 security agents were also mobilized at the Stade de France and the Raid, the elite unit of the national police, was engaged for the security of the Israel team.
