The alert was given around 5:30 p.m., this Thursday, November 14, 2024. A Guingamp habitat tenant living on the third floor of a building located rue du Manoir, in Guingamp (Côtes-d'Armor), called for help for a suspicious smell of gas.

The leak came from a faulty regulator on an individual gas cylinder, which was located in an apartment on the second floor.
During the intervention, around ten people who were in the buildings were evacuated. Everyone was able to return to their homes once the system was lifted.
Traffic blocked
In total, fourteen firefighters from the centers of Belle-Isle-en-Terre, Pommerit-le-Vicomte, Châtelaudren-Plouagat and Guingamp intervened. A ladder truck, two ton pump vans and a group leader were mobilized.
During the intervention, traffic was blocked in both directions for approximately 45 minutes. The gendarmes and GRDF agents were also on site.
Another suspected gas leak in Ploumagoar
In addition, emergency services were also called for suspected gas leaks at the same time, in Ploumagoar, in the Runanvizit area and in Roglazou Street. These were, in reality, false gas leaks, the odors emanating from rising sewers.
