Funny times, all the same, when TV films can slip into festival programming. However, we should not shy away from our pleasure, since I won't let myself do this anymore is enjoyable in many ways, not just in terms of its stellar cast. The work thus accumulates many more winning elements than many films making it to the big screens.
It must be believed that the greatest duos in cinema do not last forever. If the Coen brothers and several others tried their hand at going solo, it is the turn of filmmaker and actor Gustave Kervern to try his hand at directing, without his faithful accomplice Benoît Delépine (who is still thanked in the credits).
As for the distribution, we find several well-known faces, both in major roles and appearances, such as Anna Mouglalis, Corinne Masiero (who wasClear history) et Jonathan Cohen (At the same time).
Added to them are the elite of current French cinema, while Laure Calamy, Philippe Duquesne (who encountered Moreau in his very beautiful and also free The poet's bride) and the inimitable Raphaël Quenard, having all regularly demonstrated their innate talent for comedy, demonstrate incredible joy in coming to rave in the world of Kervern.
The talent for making people laugh and being unusual is still very great, when it comes to finding madness where we least expect it.
The film thus turns out to be funnier than the majority of comedies, whether in a line, a visual discovery or flashes of genius in the foreground or in the background. The giggles are as numerous as the twisted ideas, in what quickly presents itself as a certain manifesto for fully enjoying one's emancipation and, by the same token, one's freedom.
As its title suggests, we embark on a vengeful quest (as we have rarely seen) to take justice into our own hands and reclaim our life, at the moment when it seems to have completely abandoned us. Path of no return, now or never, see it however you want. One thing remains certain: the film will do as it pleases, whatever the cost.
Certainly, the pace is not always assured and, among the countless laughs, there are a few passages which let the (TV) film run out of steam a little (during the commercial blocks, perhaps).
Except that this way of persisting in bringing the spotlight back on those left behind in society remains admirable. Above all, it is never to give in to miserabilism and always to convey its messages with tact and humor.
There is also a certain breath of fresh air in seeing Kervern free herself with such passion and accuracy in a well-received feminist tangent and delivered with aplomb by her actresses. After all, they often featured more male characters and women, even in important roles, were regularly at the service of each other.
I won't let myself do this anymore could, at first glance, have the air of a minor film. Except that with all the talent assembled, it is a bit of the caliber of HBO TV films, for example, which often compete with several of the big productions which have not been reserved for the small screen. With a hot topic and performers as dedicated as its creator, it's impossible to be bored with this crazy film bringing together equally crazy humans.

I won't let myself do this anymore was seen as part of Cinémania, the French-speaking film festival. As it is a TV film from the ARTE channel and has no distributor in Quebec, there are no theatrical releases planned.
