From November 7 to 13, a collection for the benefit of Spanish families who lost everything during the Valencia floods was organized at Saint-Joseph college in Longué.
At the initiative of Isabelle Chauveau, director of the Saint-Émilie de Candé college, the Notre-Dame-du-Bretonnais college and the Saint-Joseph de Longué college, Thierry Bélanger, director of the latter establishment, was able to relay this operation through the two Spanish teachers: Maria Munoz and Maria Catalane, very affected by this tragedy. Other teachers joined the group such as the AESH Christelle, Séverine and Lucille, the college computer scientist, Tristan, the building maintenance manager, Julia Defourneau, the librarian, Marie-Dominique Thomas, parents of students like Lucille Poirier and certain students.
This solidarity operation made it possible to recover five pallets: children’s and adult clothing, shoes, food products, hygiene products, household linen and a box of toys. The charity Caritas Valence also allows donations to be collected through its website. It is still possible to bring belongings, non-perishable food and household linen directly to the college by dropping them off at the secretariat.
« A big thank you to the parents and volunteers who mobilized, all within a week given the urgency of the situation », underlined Thierry Bélanger.
Delivery is provided free of charge by Ageneau transport as part of the partnership with the Wresinski high school in Angers, transport section.
