a very calm evening at the Stade de France

Thursday, November 14, the football match between France and Israel took place without a hitch on the pitch and in the stands of the Stade de France. There were less than 20,000 spectators present, the lowest attendance in the history of the Stadium. It was the tribune of honor which was the most densely filled. Emmanuel Macron wanted to participate, along with Michel Barnier, the Prime Minister. Two other former presidents of the Republic were also present: François Hollande and Nicolas Sarkozy.

The tension was especially around the Stadium. 4,000 law enforcement officers were deployed in Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis). An hour before kick-off, the Israeli selection bus arrived under very heavy police protection.
