MISCELLANEOUS FACTS. A fire caused significant damage to a residence located at 113, route 281 in Saint-Magloire, this Thursday, November 14.
According to the director of the East Etchemins sector fire authority, Pierre Morneau, the call came in shortly after 10:15 a.m., coming from a passerby who saw smoke escaping from the roof and through windows.
The first fire units took charge of the scene as soon as they arrived on site, an entire water tank being necessary to reach every corner of the residence. The damage is barely visible from the outside, with smoke and water causing most of the damage to the interior.
The exact cause of the fire is not known at the moment, although Mr. Morneau mentioned that the theory of an electrical fault in a device in the house could be considered.
The occupants of the residence, a couple with two children, were absent at the time of the disaster. Mr. Morneau stressed that the Red Cross was called to help them relocate.
In all, 16 RISEDE firefighters from the localities of Saint-Magloire, Sainte-Justine, Saint-Camille and Sainte-Sabine took part in the intervention, supported by five colleagues from Saint-Philémon who came to assist.
The intervention ended around 1:30 p.m. and no one was injured during it.
