Nations League: England takes the lead in its group after its victory in Greece

England largely won in Greece in the Nations League this Thursday evening.

Thanks to their 0-3 victory over Greece at the Olympic Stadium in Athens on Thursday evening, England now have the same total points (12) as the Hellenes in Group B2 of the Nations League. Goals from Ollie Watkins (7th), Curtis Jones (83rd) and an own goal from Odysseas Vlachodimos (78th) allowed the Three Lions to win on the fifth day.

England was surprised by the Greeks on October 10 at Wembley (1-2). Greece, which remained on a series of four victories, therefore experienced its first defeat in the competition on Thursday. Both teams are neck and neck at the top of Group B, with England having an advantage on special goal difference.

Ireland, who dominated Finland 1-0 at the same time in Dublin, are 3rd with 6 points. Finland has yet to score a single point.

In Group B3, Norway and Austria both have ten points at the top of the group. The Scandinavians won 1-3 in Slovenia with a double from former Club Brugge Antonio Nusa (4th, 59th), and goals from Erling Haaland (45th) and Jens Hauge (83rd).

Earlier in the day, Austria dominated Kazakhstan 0-2 in Almaty with goals from Christoph Baumgartner (15th) and Michael Gregoritsch (25th).
