the new CGR cinema will open in 2026 on the former Sernam site

The metamorphosis of the Châteauroux station district is taking shape. This November 13, during the community council, the CGR group's future cinema complex project reached a new stage: the approval of the sale of a 4,600 m² plot of land to accommodate a ten-screen multiplex. Located on the former Sernam site, rue Pierre-Gaultier, the new cinema should open its doors in the second half of 2026.

Two additional rooms

Currently based on Avenue Charles-de-Gaulle, the group is limited by the premises it rents. The future complex will allow the addition of two additional rooms, increasing its capacity and diversity of screenings. For this land, the CGR group paid €230,000 excluding tax.

The cinema is part of the overall plan of the “station center” which provides for the creation of a footbridge linking the old postal sorting center to a future square, to accommodate the Mellotée brasserie and the multiplex. Planned for 2026, the footbridge, estimated at €5 million, should provide a smooth passage between these infrastructures.
