The four-time Olympic champion showed his opposition to the government’s decision. This Wednesday, the Ministry of National Education made an about-face on the deployment of a system which aimed to increase the practice of sport in middle school.

Not used to political outings, Léon Marchand has, this time, chosen to come out of silence. This Thursday, November 14, with a simple clown emoji published on his social networks, the star swimmer displayed his dissatisfaction with a government decision.

The Olympic legacy faded somewhat this Wednesday, when L’Équipe relayed the announcement from the Ministry of National Education. The latter renounced the generalization of two hours of additional weekly sports in college. A measure deemed “relevant” but “not sustainable”.

This system, tested for two years in 700 establishments, was to see the light of day in 2026. This will not happen, despite the support shown by Emmanuel Macron for this measure before the Olympic Games.
