Since Tuesday, at least six series of strikes have targeted the southern suburbs of Beirut, day and night. The Israeli army called on residents this Thursday, November 14, 2024, to evacuate the targeted area, occupied by Hezbollah. The movement has, in fact, its stronghold in the southern suburbs of Beirut, today largely emptied of its inhabitants.
This Thursday morning, the Arabic-language spokesperson for the Israeli army, Avichay Adraee, published on X a call to evacuate for the areas of Chouaifat al-Omrousiya and al-Ghobeiry, south of Beirut.

“Israeli military aviation” carried out two strikes on the al-Ghobeiry neighborhood, and a third « raid violent » targeted the Chouaifat al-Omrousiya region, on the outskirts of the southern suburbs, according to the National Information Agency (ANI). Bombings were also carried out earlier Thursday in the same area.
The town of Bint Jbeil at the heart of the fighting
Since the end of September, the Israeli army has been carrying out a ground offensive in southern Lebanon by attempting incursions into Lebanese territory; Hezbollah assured Wednesday evening that it had fired missiles at Israeli soldiers on the outskirts of the town of Bint Jbeil. It is in this same locality that ANI reported nightly Israeli bombings, causing “the destruction of a number of residential buildings and apartments”quotes theAFP.
Bint Jbeil had been the scene of fierce resistance by Hezbollah fighters against the Israeli army during their previous war in 2006. The Israeli army had not been able to take control of this locality, located more than three kilometers from the border.
