Around thirty firefighters intervened Tuesday afternoon in a building in Palaiseau (Essonne) after a fire broke out in one of the apartments. They evacuated the occupants of the 32 homes when the fire broke out in a 67-year-old tenant suffering from Diogenes syndrome, reports The Parisian.
“He stored a whole bunch of things. He stored a lot of boards there, a neighbor testified. He really enjoyed salvaging what he found. » The sixty-year-old was bothered by the fumes and briefly hospitalized before being welcomed by relatives.
An outstretched hand
The son of a resident of the building had nevertheless wanted to help this tenant. “I told him about Diogenes syndrome but he didn’t want to hear it,” he explained. He piled up a lot of family memories, quite a few computer objects too.”
An apartment was flooded when firefighters intervened but the damage was repaired the next day. “The urgency is to offer a rehousing solution to the tenant whose apartment has been completely destroyed,” indicated the lessor.
