The Quimper public prosecutor's office relinquished the investigation into the death of two men on Saturday, November 9, following the fire in an apartment in an HLM housing estate in Douarnenez, in favor of the Brest criminal division.
The victims, aged 44 and 61, are probably stabbing deathsusing a weapon found on site, according to a press release from the Quimper prosecutor's office.
The gendarmes discovered the facts on November 9 around 6:20 a.m., spotting, during a patrol, smoke fumes coming from a HLM apartment located near the port of Tréboul, in Douarnenez.
One of the victims known for drug trafficking
The 44 year old man was discovered in the street at the foot of the buildingshirtless, barefoot, wearing bloody jeans. He died shortly after help arrived. The autopsy revealed that he had been the victim of 16 blows with a weapon “knife type“.
The body of the 61 year old victim was discovered, he in the apartment “set on fire and completely destroyed“. The autopsy “highlighted several lesions on the bodyresulting in death, possibly with the same weapon only for the first victim“, specified the prosecution.

A knife and a lighter found
A knife with traces of blood and a lighter was furthermore discovered outside the homein the grass, under the window of a bedroom of the apartment. Only the DNA of the two victims was found on the weapon.
Due to the criminal classification of the facts, the Quimper public prosecutor's office withdrew “for the benefit of criminal center of the Brest public prosecutor's office for the purposes of opening a judicial investigation“, according to the same source.
19 people had to be evacuated following the fire.
