The author Hemley Boum received the Louis-Guilloux prize awarded by the Department of Côtes-d'Armor

Tuesday November 12, at the Dinan convention center, Hemley Boum received the 2024 Louis-Guilloux prize for his novel The Fisherman's Dream. This is the fifth novel by this author of Cameroonian origin.

The Louis-Guilloux prize has been awarded by the Department of Côtes-d'Armor since 1983, in tribute to the famous Breton writer, born in Saint-Brieuc in 1899 and died in 1980. This literary prize has become a citizen prize, which rewards a work chosen from ten works by a jury made up of regular readers of Côtes-d'Armor libraries.

This year, nearly 400 Costa Rican readers participated in the vote. “Hemley Boum’s book won us over from the start, underlined Gilbert Carlo, who chairs the Society of Friends of Louis-Guilloux. The Fisherman's Dream is made up of two intertwined stories. It depicts a powerful and luminous fresco which illuminates the mysteries of transmission. Already focused on writing her next book, Hemley Boum will be in literary residency in Saint-Brieuc in January 2025.
