His journey of violence ended Tuesday at Toulon station (Var) when a young woman alerted the police after being attacked on a train from Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône). The suspect, Levis E., would be 32 years old and of Cameroonian nationality, according to the information he gave to the police.
This homeless person, who is the subject of an OQTF (Obligation to leave French territory) is suspected of several attacks including at least one murder, with blows from concrete blocks in Lyon (Rhône) during the night from Sunday to Monday. His identity is being verified and analyses, notably DNA, have been launched to determine whether he is indeed the author of this violence which he could have perpetrated in several cities in France and in Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
Tuesday evening, Levis E. attacked a young woman on a Marseille-Toulon train. After being placed in custody by the Toulon police, investigators realized that the man was the subject of a search warrant issued by an investigating judge in Essonne after a serious attack in Évry- Courcouronnes, last October 23. According to our information, that night, around 3:30 a.m., on the station square, a homeless man in his fifties was found with a head injury. The victim is hospitalized, his vital prognosis is in jeopardy. A total incapacity for work of 45 days is then issued to him by the doctors.
When he was able to be heard by the police officers from SIPJ 91 (interdepartmental judicial police service), the man said that he was sleeping when he received a concrete block on the face. He also specifies that he saw a man fleeing.

“The investigation made it possible to identify a suspect,” confirmed the Évry-Courcouronnes public prosecutor’s office this Wednesday. A judicial investigation was opened at the Évry judicial court on November 12 on charges of attempted intentional homicide and an arrest warrant was issued against this individual. » After his arrest by the Toulon police, “the execution of the arrest warrant, which is the responsibility of the investigating judge, will be considered in connection with the services locally seized”, adds the Évry prosecutor's office.
Assaults filmed
It was 400 km from the Paris region, in Rotterdam (Netherlands), that we found traces of Levis E. a few days later. He is suspected of having attacked another homeless person there, again using a concrete block. On November 5, near the city's maritime museum, a homeless man found refuge in a corner to sleep. The scene is filmed by video surveillance. Shortly before 4 a.m., a suspect dressed in black, his arms loaded with heavy shopping bags, approached the victim sleeping on the ground several times and checked with his foot that she was sleeping.
The shocking images subsequently show the suspect returning with a block of concrete, which he carries flat on his head. With a casual approach, the individual walks towards his victim again, looks around him, and launches himself: he grabs the heavy concrete block, gains momentum and prepares to crush it on the homeless person's face asleep. The images released by the Dutch police do not show what happens next. But the victim, a 37-year-old man, is hospitalized in critical condition. While the suspect flees, an investigation into attempted murder is opened.
He would travel across Europe by train
In a wanted notice, the Dutch police released photos of a dark-skinned man, aged around 30, wearing a black raincoat, blue pants and orange lace-up shoes. “It is now clear that the man is traveling by train,” write the country’s authorities. According to their call for witnesses, on the morning of the attack in Rotterdam, the suspect headed towards Breda, near the Belgian border, before taking a train to Antwerp or Brussels (Belgium).
“The Belgian police are now also looking for him,” we read in the call for witnesses. The police do not rule out the possibility that he then left for another destination or returned to the Netherlands.” The man could also have passed through Luxembourg, the shopping bags he was carrying with him came from Luxembourg stores. After the Toulon arrest, the Dutch police said they were “investigating whether this is the suspect linked to the Rotterdam attack”. “At this stage, we cannot confirm it,” according to its spokesperson Janine Tuinfort.
Strasbourg, Dijon, Lyon…
And it is perhaps in Lyon (Rhône) that the man strikes again. Monday morning, a homeless man of Moldovan nationality was found dead under a porch, near Place Carnot. The victim has a large wound on his head. Near him, a bloody concrete block was abandoned. An investigation was then opened for murder and analysis of the video surveillance showed a person hitting him in the head.
Tuesday evening, a new attack occurred on a train departing from Marseille. Marjorie, 26, his victim, denounces him and the individual is arrested. According to the identity he gave to the police, he is wanted for several homicides and attempted homicide “with the same modus operandi”, according to a police source at AFP. Another source adds that in recent weeks he has attacked homeless people.
According to our information, the man is also wanted for two other violent attacks in Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin), on October 31, 2024, and in Dijon (Côte d'Or) on July 25, 2024.
