Nearly 1,700 signatories deplore “frequent fights” and “regular overload” in this nightclub based in Bernolsheim.
“Tragic deaths”, “frequent fights”, “regular overload”, “disturbances to public order”: this is in summary what an online petition denounces demanding the closure of the Mille Club. Nearly 1,700 people have signed it to date.
The parking lot of this nightclub, based in Bernolsheim (Bas-Rhin), was the scene of a murder on October 31. Around 5 a.m., following an altercation on this Halloween evening, a 21-year-old young man received a fatal stab wound to the chest. Concerning the facts leading to the victim's death, the prosecution describes a “single scene of violence”.
Two suspects aged 18 and 20 were arrested and referred at the beginning of the month. The prosecution requested the indictment of the first for murder by a person while drunk and driving without a license, and for complicity in aggravated murder for the second. A call for witnesses has been launched by the gendarmerie to advance the investigation.
Management inaction pointed out
According to the reviews left on Google, combined with the testimonies collected by BFM Alsace, excesses are recurrent around the discotheque as well as within it.
Connoisseurs of Mille Club evenings point out the inaction of the establishment's management to stem this phenomenon. According to them, the security guards only set up inside between 2 and 3 a.m. Certain members of the staff would also be the cause of tensions.
“After a while, when you see that you are being pushed by waiters, you tell yourself that in fact you are not safe at all in this box. […] If the tragedy of October 31 happened, it was because the bouncers were too busy,” said Inès Revel, a student in Strasbourg, speaking to BFM Alsace.
“I try not to drink too much”
Like the author of the petition, Sarah (not her real name) criticizes “overcrowding” in the nightclub. “They let in a lot more people than they should let in,” argues the young woman.
“Generally, when I go there, I try not to drink too much because I don't feel too safe there,” she concedes.
Despite a legal obligation since 2011, the establishment does not provide breathalyzers to its customers before they leave the premises, according to our information.
Reopening scheduled for Saturday
After the drama of October 31, the Mille Club observed a period of closure. “As a sign of respect for the victim,” writes the establishment on its social networks. “We condemn any act of violence,” he adds, recalling that it is “a place of celebration”.
More recently, the nightclub announced its upcoming reopening. It is scheduled for Saturday November 16. The theme of the event: “Love of the night”.
Contacted by BFM Alsace on various occasions, the management of the establishment did not wish to react.
