ATP – Finals > Medvedev on his celebration against De Minaur: “Usually I celebrate when I win tournaments, but today I didn't care. You win everything and people say you're a god and what if you lose two matches, people say your career is over”

Author of disrespectful behavior during his defeat against Taylor Fritz for his debut at the Turin Masters, Daniil Medvedev logically found himself under fire from criticism, until his victory against Alex De Minaur during the second match, at the end of which he celebrated by covering his ears.

“A lot of footballers do it. It's more in relation to social networks. After my performance against Taylor and some of my comments, I tried to use them less. I approached this match by blocking out the noise, even my own. No anger. Just block out the noise. I really didn't care what was happening on the field. I just tried to play. It was a good feeling. Usually I celebrate when I win tournaments but today I didn't care. It's good sometimes to do it for yourself (block out the noise). The more popular you become, the more fans you have, the more haters you have. The more attention we receive. Sometimes even good noise can throw you off balance. You win everything and people say you're a god. If you lose two matches, people say your career is over. From time to time it's good to block all that out.”explained the Russian during the on-court interview.
