Thouarsais-Bouildroux. The jebel gold medal awarded to Gabriel Coué

On Monday, members and supporters of the National Union of Combatants (UNC) participated in the November 11 commemoration ceremonies. On this occasion, Jean Fichet, president, accompanied by Pascal Bécot, mayor, invited the participants to the presentation of the gold medal for the jebel to Gabriel Coué by André Turcaud, former president of the local section, who sent him these words : “Gaby, my friend, you were 20 years old, in February 1960. Called to the flag, you were incorporated directly into Algeria for a period of 28 months. With Roger Bodin, you had a goodbye drink, before leaving for Fontenay-le-Comte and taking the train to an unknown destination. Arriving in Algeria, in a mountainous, arid, dangerous region, it was the jebel. »

Thanks to 40 years of dedication, in particular as treasurer of the UNC association, Gaby Coué was able to savor his medal, in the presence of his reunited family.
