The Minister of the Interior confirmed that the “Israel is Forever” gala, organized in Paris the day before the France-Israel football match which will be held under high security, will take place on Wednesday November 13.
The event in support of the Jewish state will indeed take place. The Minister of the Interior Bruno Retailleau confirmed this Tuesday, November 12, the holding on Wednesday evening of the “Israel is Forever” gala organized Wednesday evening in Paris on the eve of the France-Israel football match.
“The question arose about the ban but the courts ruled and ruled in favor of our police prefect who did not ban this demonstration any more than we are going to ban other demonstrations which are opposed,” he declared on TF1.
Questioned last Sunday on BFMTV, Paris police chief Laurent Nuñez indicated that he “will not ban this demonstration”.
“Michel Barnier recalled that the French government had nothing to do with it. It is an association which invited a minister who was able to make extremely shocking remarks condemned by France and whom I understand does not will not be there,” continued the police chief.
Far-right Israeli minister won’t go to gala
Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, whose visit to Paris was expected, will ultimately not travel to France, his spokesperson said. Minister of the far right, his presence initially announced at the gala had caused associations and political groups to react.
“This minister is not my cup of tea and he is not coming, he will not be there for this gala,” confirmed Bruno Retailleau this Tuesday evening on TF1.
The administrative court, seized by the opponents of this event, had ruled that “noting that the existence of a clear and imminent threat has not been established, the judge of the summary proceedings considers that the conditions are not met for him to be able to order the authority vested with police power to prohibit the gala”.
