On September 10, 2024, the Karl Lagerfeld Prize was awarded to Dutch designer Duran Lantink, a talent who is attracting more and more attention in the fashion world.

An upcycling practice inspired by his childhood
Born into an open and creative environment, Lantink grew up reinventing clothes found at home, influenced by a free-style mother and surrounded by queer figures. He quotes Walter Van Beirendonck et Jean-Paul Gaultier among his influences, but his style remains unique, combining sobriety and radicality. In 2019, he launched his own label and stands out for his practice ofupcyclinga concept that he formalized in 2023 during his first fashion show at the Fashion Week de Paris.
Silhouettes that question norms
Lantink plays with the shapes and proportions of the body, recalling the audacity of the Comme des Garçons spring-summer 1997 fashion show. His creations, often composed of padding marking the shoulders, hips and chests, explore the body through openwork tulle and cropped lengths. He favors austere colors which accentuate the power and purity of his pieces. These aesthetic choices have won over artists like Billie Eilish et Beyoncéand his work is now acclaimed by the industry.
