The 39th Cabri d’Or ceremony, held at the Salle des Estates, celebrated the cultural commitment of the Agglomeration of Alès. In an international context marked by withdrawal, Christophe Rivenq emphasized that culture is a force for cohesion, allowing individuals to understand each other and breathe in a complex world, while highlighting the cultural dynamism of its territory.
For this edition, thirty books competed, a record, with the participation of prestigious Parisian publishers. The jury, chaired by Marion Mazauric, selected various works – novels, comics, photography books – all united by a theme: the Cévennes.
Unable to decide between two finalists, the jury awarded two prizes, thus sharing the check for 5,000 euros. The first winner is The Cévennes in 70 dates by Jean-Paul Chabrol and Frédéric Cartier Lange (ed. Alcide), a popular work which captures the historical and cultural essence of the Cévennes.
The second prize went to My cabin without difficulty by Alain Guyard (ed. Le Dilettante), whose poetic and mischievous acceptance speech reflected the libertarian philosophy of its author. Guyard, a former philosophy professor, leads philosophical workshops in unconventional contexts, from prisons to health centers, in search of an interclassist dialogue.
The Cabri d’Or thus honored works celebrating Cévennes heritage while highlighting personalities who bring culture to life in a different way.
